Invitations Out!

August 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Wow! Almost 8000 miles later, our family has returned to our beautiful American Canyon home. Our visit went well in Miami, Tennessee, and Chicago. Alas, that is not why this blog exists.

Our invitations went out this week to those who will take an active part at our workshop in September. For those who received the invitation, I am working with two local hotels (Marriott and The Embassy Suites) for hopefully our place of meeting. The strength of this workshop is that it gives those present a direct voice into the direction of the church along with an opportunity to carry on conversations around tables regarding both the current state of the church and the future of the church.

It is good for those whose hearts and passions beat for the bride of Christ to get together every few years and prayerfully reflect on and dream about the church. However, it isn’t enough just to reflect and dream. We must act. The workshop ends with actions plans that can move us forward.

Stay tuned for more details. KOPO!

What is It?

July 11, 2008 · 1 Comment

Firmly believing in the voice of the community, I believe it is vital to any organization, including our church, to seek out the voice of God in the midst of the community. We are taking this seriously by involving a number of people to participate in an active, engaging, planning process early this fall. This process (known as the Shared Vision for Mission Workshop) will provide a way for a large segment of our church to not only have their voice heard but to give concrete direction for the next three to five years.

So, on September 12 & 13, we will provide this opportunity during this 24-hour period for our community to gather together, to share, dream, and put into action steps ways to live out our vision, mission, and values. Stay tuned regularly for updates related to our work. A Steering Committee has been working for the past few months to make this workshop a reality. So, please, pray for us. Also, stay tuned for a cheat sheet to give you more general information.  KOPO (Keep On Praying On!)
